About
Gabriel Jarret, born Gabriel Kronsberg, is an American actor, musician, and American Sign Language interpreter whose career spans film, television, theater, and music. He began working professionally in 1981.
Jarret's screen career launched with the 1981 film Going Ape!, and he went on to earn his most recognized role four years later as Mitch Taylor, a young genius, in the 1985 comedy Real Genius alongside Val Kilmer. His subsequent film work includes The Karate Kid Part III, Apollo 13, Last Days, and Poseidon, in which he played 1st Officer Chapman. He also appeared in Ron Howard's Frost/Nixon as Ken Khachigian, a speechwriter for Richard Nixon as portrayed by Frank Langella.
On television, Jarret made guest appearances on 21 Jump Street, L.A. Law, Party of Five, and The West Wing. His stage work includes a Broadway appearance in 1998 in the play Fame. He also performed as an ASL interpreter alongside Terrylene in Sweet Nothing in My Ear with the Mixed Blood Theatre Company.
As a musician working in rock and alternative rock, Jarret served as lyricist and vocalist for the Los Angeles-based band The Unknown in the early 1990s. The group appeared at the House of Blues on a bill with Tower of Power and attracted interest from record labels before disbanding prior to signing any deals.
