About
Gabriel Ebert is an American stage actor and singer originally from Denver, Colorado. He attended the Denver School of the Arts for high school before going on to graduate from Juilliard.
Ebert made his Broadway debut in 2010, first as an understudy for the role of Ken in John Logan's Red, then as Stanley in Kneehigh Theatre's Brief Encounter the same year. In 2012, his performance as Leo, the grandson of Mary Louise Wilson's character Vera, in Amy Herzog's 4000 Miles at Lincoln Center Theater earned him an Obie Award. The following year, he originated the role of Mr. Wormwood in the Broadway production of Matilda the Musical, a performance that brought him the 2013 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical.
Beyond Broadway, Ebert starred as Robin Hood in David Farr's The Heart of Robin Hood, performing the production in Winnipeg and Toronto between October 2014 and March 2015. In 2015, he appeared in the film Ricki and the Flash as the character Max, and on stage he played Camille in the Roundabout Theater production of Helen Edmundson's adaptation of Thérèse Raquin at Studio 54, alongside Keira Knightley, Judith Light, and Matt Ryan. In 2016, he was cast in the pilot for the Amazon Video series The Interestings, and in 2020 he played a gunnery officer in The Mandalorian.
Ebert's Broadway work continued with productions including Pass Over and Time and the Conways. In 2025, he originated the role of Carter Smith in the Broadway debut of John Proctor Is the Villain, earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play.
Ebert is married to director Danya Taymor. His special skills include juggling, playing ukulele, and reciting all 50 states in one breath.
