Cattand made his Broadway debut in 1952 and continued performing on the New York stage through 1957. His credits during that period included Les Adieux, Le Proces, Feu la Mere de Madame, The Misanthrope, and Volpone.
On screen, Cattand accumulated credits in 108 film and television productions between 1950 and 1997. Among his notable film appearances was the 1969 production Klann – grand guignol, which was selected as an entry in the 20th Berlin International Film Festival.
