About
Fuller Mellish, born Harold Arthur Fuller on January 3, 1865, in London, England, was a stage and screen actor who built a career spanning both British and American theater and film. He died on December 7, 1936. His parents were Charles Perry Fuller and Rose Leclercq. Mellish was the father of two performers who followed him into the profession: Fuller Mellish Jr., known for his work in Applause, and Vera Fuller Mellish.
Mellish began his stage career in 1881 and remained active as a performer for more than five decades. His Broadway career extended from 1902 to 1936, during which he appeared in a range of productions across both musical and dramatic genres. His Broadway credits included the musical My Maryland, the play A Journey By Night, the play Living Dangerously, the play The Chinese Nightingale, and A Woman of Destiny, among other productions. His final stage appearance came in 1935.
In addition to his theater work, Mellish also pursued a career in film, appearing alongside Mary Pickford in Esmerelda among other screen projects.
