About
Fred Huntley (29 August 1862 – 1 November 1931) was an English actor, director, and writer whose career spanned theater and silent film across multiple decades. Born in London, England, he died in Hollywood, California.
Huntley began his theatrical career at London's Covent Garden in 1879. He subsequently spent years as the leading man with the Carleton Opera Company before eventually bringing his stage experience to Broadway, where he appeared between 1903 and 1905. His Broadway credits included A Princess of Kensington and the musical San Toy.
In 1912, Huntley transitioned into the film industry, joining the Selig Polyscope Company as a writer and director. He went on to work as a silent film actor and director, building a second career in the emerging medium of cinema.
