About
Françoise Seigner was a French actress born on 7 April 1928 who built her reputation primarily through stage work. She appeared on Broadway in 1968 in a production of Tartuffe, bringing her theatrical background to American audiences.
Although Seigner was most closely associated with the theatre, she also accumulated a number of film credits over the course of her career. Among her screen appearances was François Truffaut's The Wild Child in 1970, as well as a role in the 2005 film adaptation of Agatha Christie's novel By the Pricking of My Thumbs.
Seigner was the aunt of actresses Emmanuelle Seigner and Mathilde Seigner. She died of pancreatic cancer on 13 October 2008 at the age of 80.
