Francis Lister was a British actor born in London, England, on 2 April 1899, who died on 28 October 1951. His stage career brought him to Broadway across a span of more than a decade, with appearances running from 1923 to 1935.
His Broadway credits included the play Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary, the play Dishonored Lady, the play Richard of Bordeaux, the play The Red Cat, and Substitute For Murder. These productions represented his sustained presence on the New York stage throughout the late 1920s and into the mid-1930s.
In his personal life, Lister was married twice, first to actress Nora Swinburne from 1924 to 1932, and subsequently to actress Margot Grahame from 1934 to 1936. Materials related to his career are preserved in the Francis Lister Collection, held by the Victoria and Albert Museum's Theatre and Performance Department in London.
