About
Flora Parker DeHaven (September 1, 1883 – September 9, 1950) was an American actress born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, whose career spanned stage, vaudeville, and film across several decades. She made her initial stage appearance in stock productions in New Orleans before establishing herself as a leading lady for actor-manager Nat Goodwin. She subsequently entered vaudeville alongside her husband, Carter DeHaven, with whom she would remain a frequent professional partner throughout much of her career.
DeHaven's Broadway career extended from 1903 to 1917 and encompassed five productions. Her earliest credited Broadway appearance came in Mr. Bluebeard in 1903, followed by The Girl and the Wizard in 1909. She took on the role of the Queen in The Queen of the Moulin Rouge in 1908, a production in which she starred. Her later Broadway work included All Aboard in 1913 and His Little Widows in 1917. She was recognized as an exceptionally fine dancer throughout her stage career.
Her transition to film began under the Universal banner, after which she moved to Goldwyn, where she co-starred with Carter DeHaven in a series of two-reel comedies. The couple subsequently joined Paramount-Artcraft as co-stars, and DeHaven was frequently billed in screen productions as "Mrs. Carter DeHaven." She was of medium height with a dark complexion and dark eyes. She was the mother of actress Gloria DeHaven.
Flora Parker DeHaven died of a heart attack in Hollywood, California, on September 9, 1950, at the age of 67.
