Fern Fitzgerald

Fern Fitzgerald is an American actress born on January 7, 1947, in Valley Stream, New York. She is best known for her recurring television role as oil cartel businesswoman Marilee Stone on the CBS primetime soap opera Dallas, a part she held across 73 episodes from 1979 to 1987 and again in 1989.

Fitzgerald's career began on the Broadway stage, where she appeared in 1975 in two landmark productions: the original run of Chicago and the original cast of A Chorus Line. Both productions opened that year and went on to become defining works of the American musical theater canon.

Her television work extended well beyond Dallas. Fitzgerald guest-starred on Archie Bunker's Place, playing Pat McBride across three episodes in 1983, and appeared on Hill Street Blues that same year. She portrayed Dr. Isabel Schaeffer in two episodes of Who's the Boss? between 1985 and 1986, and took the role of Myra Fields in a 1986 episode of Hotel. She appeared as Robin Benchfield in three episodes of Life Goes On between 1990 and 1992, and played Ms. Wilkie in a 1996 episode of Seinfeld. Additional television credits include Hart to Hart, Silver Spoons, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Hunter, Hooperman, and Stingray, among others.

In film, Fitzgerald appeared as Julie in The Beach Girls in 1982. Her earlier film work includes the television movie A Cry for Love in 1980, in which she played a character named Barbara.
