Born August 16, 1928, in the Bronx to Nessim and Fortuna Garmezano, Eydie Gormé first appeared on television via The Tonight Show, where she met her future husband Steve Lawrence. Their eldest son, Michael Lawrence, died in 1986; she is survived by Steve Lawrence and their second son, David.

Film and television credits include appearances on The Carol Burnett Show, The Nanny, Frasier, Empty Nest, Sanford and Son, and The Kraft Music Hall.

Eydie Gormé and Steve Lawrence won a 1979 Emmy Award in the outstanding comedy-variety or music program category for Steve & Eydie Celebrate Irving Berlin. Their first joint album, We Got Us, earned the 1960 Grammy Award for Best Performance By A Vocal Group. In 1966, Eydie Gormé took the female Grammy Award for Best Vocal Performance for If He Walked Into My Life.

Widely celebrated for her performances alongside Steve Lawrence in popular ballads and swing, Eydie Gormé also scored a hit with Blame It On The Bossa Nova, which reached No. 7 in 1963.
