Evelyn Roberts

Evelyn Roberts (28 August 1886 – 30 November 1962) was an English actor whose career spanned stage and film. After serving in World War I, Roberts made his stage debut in 1918, launching a theatrical career that would eventually bring him to Broadway.

Roberts appeared on Broadway between 1929 and 1931, with credits including Journey's End and The Good Fairy. His Broadway run included the original New York production of Journey's End, R.C. Sherriff's play, which ran during the 1929–1930 season.

Alongside his stage work, Roberts built a substantial career in film. His screen appearances began with Bolibar in 1928 and continued across several decades. During the 1930s he appeared in a large number of British productions, including Say It with Music, One Precious Year, The Melody-Maker, Anne One Hundred, Purse Strings, Sorrell and Son, The Broken Rosary, Sing As We Go, The Feathered Serpent, No Limit, A Romance in Flanders, Keep Fit, Return of the Scarlet Pimpernel, and I've Got a Horse. He continued working in film into the 1940s and 1950s, with credits including The Winslow Boy in 1948, The Heart of the Matter and The Clue of the Missing Ape in 1953, The Green Scarf in 1954, Man of the Moment in 1955, A Touch of the Sun in 1956, and The Spaniard's Curse in 1958.
