Evelyn Cavanaugh was an American actress, singer, and dancer who performed in Broadway musical comedies during the 1910s and 1920s. Born in Troy, New York, she received her education at the boarding school of Visitation Convent in Washington, D.C.
Cavanaugh's Broadway career spanned from 1917 to 1926, encompassing a range of musical productions. Her earliest credited stage work included His Little Widows in 1917 and The Kiss Burglar in 1918. She continued building her stage presence through the early 1920s with appearances in My Golden Girl (1920), Love Birds (1921), and Kissing Time (1921). Her later Broadway work included Dew Drop Inn and In the Moonlight, both in 1923, as well as a run in Wildflower from 1923 into 1924. Her final Broadway credit was The Girl Friend in 1926.
Beyond her stage work, Cavanaugh performed in vaudeville alongside dance partner James Doyle. Variety noted in 1919 that she and Richard Dore formed a well-received pairing on stage, with the publication observing that her singing demonstrated a strong voice and that her stage presence contributed meaningfully to her performances.
