About
Eulabelle Moore (1903–1964) was an American actress born in Garrison, Texas, whose career on Broadway spanned from 1936 to 1962. Over the course of her stage career, she appeared in approximately 15 Broadway productions, establishing herself as a recognized presence in American theater.
Moore's Broadway credits encompassed a range of productions, including A Streetcar Named Desire (1950), The Male Animal (1952), Jolly's Progress, Debut, A Girl Can Tell, Four Twelves Are 48, and Great Day in the Morning (1962). Her work drew favorable notice from critics across multiple productions. A Philadelphia Inquirer review of Danger - Men Working noted that Moore won applause for her portrayal of a janitress who observes and reports the activity within an apartment building. In an Asbury Park Press review of Here Today, critic Gladys March credited Moore's portrayal of the maid Gertrude with generating substantial laughs from audiences.
Moore was at one point cast in The Fundamental George in the role of a maid, but illness prevented her from performing. Helen Bonfils assumed the part in her absence, appearing in blackface. Director John Gerstad remarked that Bonfils was not comparable to Moore, whom he described as an accomplished comedy actress.
In addition to her stage work, Moore appeared in the 1964 film The Horror of Party Beach, in which she played a housekeeper named Eulabelle. Critic Mark Burger noted that her character inadvertently discovers the means by which the film's creatures can be destroyed. Moore died shortly after the film's release in 1964.
