About

Etta Hawkins, born Henrietta Luna Hawkins on August 21, 1865, in Aurora, Illinois, was an American stage actress known for comedic roles. Her father was William Delos Hawkins, and her mother, Anna Gutherz, was a native of Switzerland.

Hawkins built her stage career across the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, appearing on Broadway between 1884 and 1890. Her verified Broadway credits include Men and Women, The Main Line; or, Rawson's Y, and May Blossom. Beyond those productions, she appeared in Lord Chumley alongside E. H. Sothern, as well as The Charity Ball and The Lost Paradise.

In 1891, Hawkins married stage actor and producer William Morris. The couple had four children: sons Chester, Adrian, and Gordon Morris, all of whom became actors, and a daughter who became known as Mrs. H. O. Russell of New York.

Hawkins died on July 13, 1945, at the Beverly Hills home of her son Chester, at the age of 79.
