Born June 18, 1924, in Wrentham, Massachusetts, Ethel Winter studied at Bennington College before joining the Martha Graham Dance Company, where she danced from the 1940s through the 1960s. She married Charles Hyman in 1950; they had one child. For 50 years she taught dance at the Juilliard School. Her film credits include "A Dancer's World," "Martha Graham: An American Original in Performance," and "Night Journey." On television she appeared in "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" and "Appalachian Spring."
