About

Erin Catherine Torpey, born February 14, 1981, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, is an American actress and singer. She grew up with an older sister named Shannon and began her professional career at a young age, making her Broadway debut in 1990.

Torpey's stage career spans the years 1990 to 1993 and includes two Broadway productions. She first appeared on Broadway in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in 1990, playing the role of Trixie. Three years later, she returned to Broadway in The Goodbye Girl, taking on the role of Cynthia in 1993.

Concurrent with her Broadway work, Torpey joined the cast of the daytime drama One Life to Live in September 1990, portraying Jessica Buchanan, a role she held until January 2003. The part became the defining credit of her television career, and she received a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2000 for her performance. Following her departure from the series, the role of Jessica was assumed by actress Bree Williamson. Torpey returned to One Life to Live on two subsequent occasions: in July 2008 for two episodes as Megan Buchanan, a character described as Jessica's daughter who had previously died at birth, and again on September 8, 2011, for a single episode playing a character named Erin, a colleague of Cristian Vega.

Beyond her soap opera work, Torpey accumulated a range of television and film credits. Her film appearances include Dirty Deeds in 2005, in which she played Jen, and Fierce Friends in 2006, in which she played Megan. Her television guest roles include The Handler, Head Case, NCIS, and Bones. In 2015, she appeared in Agent Carter as Betty Carver.

Torpey also established a significant voice acting career. In 2007, she provided the voice of Princess Aurora for the Disney direct-to-video release Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams. Beginning in 2008, she voiced the Greek goddess Athena in the PSP game God of War: Chains of Olympus, and reprised the role in both the PS3 game God of War III and the PSP game God of War: Ghost of Sparta, the latter two released in 2010. She also voiced the character Erinys in God of War: Ghost of Sparta. In 2012 and 2013, she voiced the Invisible Woman in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the video game Marvel Heroes, respectively.

In her personal life, Torpey announced her engagement to actor Hamilton Von Watts in the October issue of Soaps In Depth, and the two married on April 18, 2009. Their first son was born on June 22, 2010, and a second son arrived on December 5, 2015. Torpey has also pursued a music career, working in the acoustic rock and folk genres.
