About

Erin Dilly is an American actress born on May 12, 1972, in Royal Oak, Michigan, who maintained an active Broadway presence from 1995 through 2012. She was raised in Southfield, Michigan, attended Birmingham Groves High School, and earned a degree from the University of Michigan.

Dilly is best known for originating the role of Truly Scrumptious in the 2005 Broadway production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a performance that earned her both a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical and an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination. Prior to that production, she had been announced as the lead in Thoroughly Modern Millie in 2000 but departed the project before it opened, with Sutton Foster ultimately taking the role. Her other Broadway credits include the 2002 revival of Into the Woods, in which she played Cinderella, replacing Laura Benanti; the 2002 revival of The Boys from Syracuse as Luciana; the 2001 revival of Follies as Young Phyllis; and the 2012 original production of A Christmas Story The Musical as Mother. She also appeared in the play Something Gay during her Broadway career.

Beyond Broadway, Dilly performed in several national touring productions, including South Pacific as Nellie in 2001, Martin Guerre as Bertrande, and Beauty and the Beast as Belle around 2000. Her regional theatre work includes Ken Ludwig's Leading Ladies at both the Cleveland Play House and the Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas in 2004, and a production of Putting It Together at the Cape Playhouse in Massachusetts, where she played the Younger Woman. In 2015, she returned to Into the Woods as the Baker's Wife in The Muny's production. She also participated in notable concert stagings, including the City Center Encores! production of Babes in Arms in 1999, in which she played Billie Smith, a performance that was recorded, and the June 28, 2002 tribute concert to Richard Rodgers, Something Good, where she performed "Oh Diogenes."

Dilly appeared in the 2009 film Julie & Julia as Judith Jones. On television, she portrayed Eleanor Thompson, a relative of Enoch "Nucky" Thompson, in the HBO series Boardwalk Empire in 2014, and played Gwen Rice in "Genetics," the eleventh episode of the seventh season of the CBS series Blue Bloods in 2017.

Dilly is married to actor Stephen Buntrock. Together they have two daughters, Anna Louise Buntrock, born April 11, 2006, and Catherine Caroline Buntrock, born March 9, 2009. She is also stepmother to Haley Buntrock from Buntrock's previous marriage.
