About
Enrico Colantoni is a Canadian actor and director born on February 14, 1963, in Toronto, Ontario. His parents, Gina, a garment worker, and Quintino Colantoni, a labourer and truck driver, were both immigrants from Abruzzo, Italy. His brother, Det. Sgt. Hector Colantoni, served with the Toronto Police Service for thirty years before retiring.
Colantoni began his academic career at the University of Toronto, where he studied psychology and sociology, before transferring to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. He subsequently earned a Master of Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama, where he also received the Carol Dye Award.
His television career spans several decades and a wide range of roles. From 1997 to 2003, he played Elliot DiMauro on the sitcom Just Shoot Me!, and appeared as Louis Utz on the short-lived sitcom Hope & Gloria. He portrayed Keith Mars across three seasons of Veronica Mars from 2004 to 2007, returning to the role in the 2014 film and the 2019 Hulu revival. Colantoni starred as Sgt. Greg Parker in the Canadian police drama Flashpoint, which also aired on CBS and ION Television in the United States. His brother's three decades of experience with the Toronto Police Service informed his portrayal of the character. Additional television credits include the recurring role of crime boss Carl Elias on Person of Interest, Vincent Ingram on Travelers, Allen Conner in Remedy, and Vincent Brambilla on Allegiance. He also appeared in HBO's Westworld, Station Eleven, and iZombie, on which he additionally directed two episodes. He played Laura Hollis's father in the third season of the web series Carmilla.
On film, Colantoni portrayed Mathesar in Galaxy Quest and has appeared in supporting roles in The Wrong Guy, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Contagion, and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. His guest television appearances include Monk, Numb3rs, Party Down, Stargate SG-1, and Bones.
On stage, Colantoni acted alongside Alex Garfin in the off-Broadway play Fear at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in 2019, directed by Tea Alagic. He made his Broadway debut in 2022 in Birthday Candles, for which he received a Theatre World Award that same year.
Since 2011, Colantoni has served as the official spokesperson for the Tema Conter Memorial Trust, an organization that supports first responders and service personnel dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder. He has also participated in the Companion Animal Protection Society's campaign to boycott commercial pet stores, producing a video to raise awareness about the issue.
Colantoni was previously married to nutritionist Nancy Snyder from January 1997 until 2004, with whom he has two children. On November 11, 2011, he married Rosanna Francione, and the couple have four children together.
