About
Emil Lind (14 August 1872 – 7 April 1948) was an Austrian actor, theatre director, and drama teacher who worked primarily on German-speaking stages. His career extended beyond the stage to encompass film and an international theatrical presence, including an appearance on Broadway.
Lind made his Broadway debut in 1912 in the production Sumurun, marking his entry into the American theatrical scene. His work on German-speaking stages formed the foundation of his professional identity, where he pursued roles as a performer, directed theatre productions, and taught drama.
His film career spanned roughly a decade, beginning with The Story of Dida Ibsen in 1918. Subsequent screen appearances included Die Arche and Prostitution, both from 1919, followed by Humanity Unleashed in 1920 and The Infernal Power in 1922. Lind continued working in film through the mid-1920s, appearing in I.N.R.I. in 1923, Superfluous People in 1926, and three productions released in 1927: Mata Hari, The Weavers, and Bigamie.
