About
Elliott Mason (29 January 1888 – 20 June 1949) was a British stage and film actress, sometimes credited under the alternate spelling Elliot Mason. Her career spanned both theatrical and screen work across several decades.
Mason's stage work included a Broadway appearance in 1933, when she performed in the play The Lake. Her screen career began in 1935 with the comedy The Ghost Goes West, after which she went on to take supporting roles in films on a regular basis throughout the following decade.
A number of Mason's film appearances were made at Ealing Studios. Among these was The Ghost of St. Michael's, in which her character, outwardly respectable, is ultimately revealed to be a German spy. She also appeared in Turned Out Nice Again, playing a domineering mother-in-law. Her final screen credit was the 1946 prisoner-of-war drama The Captive Heart.
