Ellen Schwanneke (August 11, 1906 – June 16, 1972) was a German actress, dancer, and stage performer whose career spanned both European film and American theater. Born into a theatrical family, she was the daughter of Viktor Schwanneke, himself a stage and film actor.
Schwanneke built her screen career primarily in Germany, appearing in a series of films beginning in the early 1930s. Among her notable film appearances was Mädchen in Uniform (1931), alongside Cadets (1931) and Impossible Love (1932). She continued working in film through the decade, with credits including A Mad Idea (1932), The Royal Waltz (1935), and Not a Word About Love (1937). Her film work extended into the postwar period with Everything Will Be Better in the Morning (1948).
In addition to her screen career, Schwanneke performed on the stage, including a Broadway appearance in 1940 in A Case of Youth.
