About

Elizabeth Teeter is an American actress born in 2001 or 2002, the daughter of actor and theatre teacher Lara Teeter and a mother who works as a dancer and dance teacher. She has a twin brother and two younger sisters. The family relocated from Chicago to Winchester, Virginia, and later to St. Louis, eventually settling in Webster Groves, Missouri, where the children attended Bristol Elementary School. Teeter studied ballet and received coaching from her father in acting, singing, and tap dance.

Teeter began performing at The Muny at age seven, with her first production being a 2009 staging of Meet Me in St. Louis. In 2011, she appeared alongside her father in The Little Mermaid at the same venue. She also performed at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, and the New Jewish Theatre during her early years.

Her Broadway debut came in mid-2012 when she was cast in Mary Poppins. The family relocated to New York from July 2012 to May 2013, during which the children were homeschooled. From August 2012 to March 2013, Teeter alternated with Carly Paige Baron and Maya Jade Frank in the role of Jane Banks. She returned to Broadway in 2015 to play young Elizabeth II in The Audience, a role she shared with Sadie Sink, and in 2016 she portrayed Betty Parris in the revival of The Crucible, directed by Ivo van Hove.

In 2019, Teeter starred as Lily Owens in the Off-Broadway musical The Secret Life of Bees, based on the film of the same name. She left her penultimate year of high school to take on the role, completing her schoolwork at the start and end of each day and sitting her final examinations during the show's preview period. The Financial Times described her as the production's main saving grace, citing her portrayal of Lily and her chemistry with co-star Brett Gray.

In March 2020, Teeter was cast as Lydia Deetz in the Broadway production of Beetlejuice and attended three days of rehearsals before Broadway theatres closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Two years later, the production team invited her to reaudition, and she booked the role again. The cast undertook table work, character discussions, screenplay review, and contributed new ideas before the production reopened in April 2022. It closed in January 2023.

In 2025, Teeter portrayed Heather McNamara in the Off-Broadway revival of Heathers: The Musical at New World Stages, directed by Andy Fickman.
