About
Eleanor Lynn (October 29, 1916 – December 26, 1996) was an American actress born in New York, New York, whose career spanned both film and stage. She worked across Hollywood productions and the Broadway theater world during a period stretching from 1934 to 1950.
Lynn appeared in several films during the 1930s, including As Husbands Go (1933), The Magician's Daughter (1938), and Fugitives for a Night (1938). Despite her screen work, she redirected her focus toward the stage, departing Hollywood to take on a role in the Broadway production of Rocket to the Moon (1938), a play written by Clifford Odets. She starred in Strip for Action and also appeared in The Bird Cage, The Man With Blond Hair, and Gabrielle, among additional stage credits. Lynn's work on Broadway continued through 1950, reflecting a sustained commitment to the New York stage that defined much of her professional life.
