Edward Langford was an American actor whose career spanned both stage and film. His Broadway work extended from 1908 to 1916, and he subsequently built a substantial presence in silent cinema.
Among his Broadway credits were The Silent Witness, Sylvia Runs Away, The Great Name, Judith Zaraine, and Is Matrimony a Failure? During the 1910s, Langford performed with a theatrical company led by Eleanor Gordon.
His film career began while he was still active on Broadway, with On the Brink of Shame appearing in 1916. The following year proved particularly productive, with seven films released in 1917: As Man Made Her, The Stolen Paradise, A Hungry Heart, Yankee Pluck, The Dormant Power, The Iron Ring, and A Woman Alone. He continued working in film through the early 1920s, appearing in The Volcano in 1919, followed by The Shadow of Rosalie Byrnes and Women Men Forget in 1920. Wife Against Wife, The Crimson Cross, and Peggy Puts It Over were all released in 1921, and his final screen credit was The Leopardess in 1923. During his film career, Langford was paired on screen with actress Alice Brady.
