Edmund Anthony Cutlar Purdom, born December 19, 1924, in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England, began his career with the Northampton Repertory Company in 1946 before spending two seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Theatre at Stratford-upon-Avon. He was married four times: first to Tita Philips, with whom he had two children, Lilian and Marjana Ann; then to Alicia Darr; followed by actress Linda Christian; and finally to Vivienne Purdom. His film credits include "The Night Porter," "The Diary of Anne Frank," "Julius Caesar," "Pieces," "The Egyptian," "Titanic," "The Student Prince," "Athena," and "The Rift." On television he appeared in "The Winds of War," "It Takes a Thief," "The Ed Sullivan Show," "ITV Play of the Week," "The Seventh Scroll," and "Verdi."
