Edmon Ryan, born Edmon Ryan Mossbarger on June 5, 1905, in Cecilia, Kentucky, was an American actor whose career spanned theater, film, television, and radio across several decades. The son of Isham Edward Mossbarger and Pearl Shelton Mossbarger, he had one brother and went on to graduate from Yale University's School of Drama. He died on August 4, 1984, at Baptist Hospital East in St. Matthews, Kentucky, and is interred at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.

Ryan's stage career began with his Broadway debut in Post Road and extended through 1962, encompassing productions that included The Male Animal, Command Decision, Dream Girl, The Marriage-Go-Round, Nature's Way, Lord Pengo, A Date With April, and The Dream Girl, among others. Beyond Broadway, he performed on stage in California and Europe, and produced four plays abroad. In 1957 he took an option on Half a Kingdom with plans to produce it. He was known for frequently portraying hard-nosed characters throughout his stage work.

His screen career began in the late 1930s with a series of British film productions, including Crime Over London (1936), Strangers on Honeymoon (1936), Gangway (1937), Non-Stop New York (1937), and Murder in Soho (1939), among others. Returning to American productions, Ryan appeared in a substantial number of films during the 1950s, including Battleground (1949), Side Street (1949), Mystery Street (1950), The Breaking Point (1950), Three Secrets (1950), Highway 301 (1950), and Storm Warning (1951). His later film work included Good Day for a Hanging (1959), Two for the Seesaw (1962), The Americanization of Emily (1964), and Alfred Hitchcock's Topaz (1969). His final film role came in Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970), in which he portrayed Rear Admiral Patrick N.L. Bellinger.

Ryan appeared three times on Alfred Hitchcock Presents, in Season 2 Episode 14 ("John Brown's Body") in 1956, Season 3 Episode 31 ("The Festive Season") in 1958, and Season 5 Episode 31 ("I Can Take Care of Myself") in 1960, and returned to the Hitchcock franchise in The Alfred Hitchcock Hour in 1964. He also spent one year on the television serial Search for Tomorrow and worked extensively in radio.

Ryan married Eleanore Dakin on August 3, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He later married actress Anne Sargent on December 13, 1949, in New York. They had one child together before divorcing.
