About

Drew Seeley, born Andrew Michael Edgar Seeley on April 30, 1982, is a Canadian actor, singer, and dancer. He grew up in Toronto, where he began performing as a child, and later relocated to Florida around his preteen years. Early in his career, he was a member of a boy band called Nu Ground and was cast in Hal Prince's revival of Show Boat, with which he remained for a year.

Seeley's professional trajectory gained significant momentum through his work with Disney. In 2004, he appeared in the Disney Channel Original Movie Stuck in the Suburbs, playing a hotel employee after auditioning for the role of Jordan Cahill, which went to Taran Killam. The following year, he collaborated with producer Ray Cham to write "Get'cha Head in the Game" for the High School Musical soundtrack, an album that achieved quadruple platinum certification. The song earned a Creative Arts Primetime Emmy nomination for Best Original Music and Lyrics. Seeley also auditioned for the role of Troy Bolton alongside Zac Efron; Efron won the part, while Seeley served as the character's singing voice, blended with Efron's in post-production. When Efron was unable to participate in the North America and Latin America legs of High School Musical: The Concert due to a scheduling conflict with the filming of Hairspray, Seeley stepped in, performing in arenas seating up to 60,000 people. His voice appears on both concert soundtracks as well as High School Musical on Stage!

His association with Disney extended across multiple projects. He contributed as a featured artist to several Disney compilation albums, including Disneymania 5, Disneymania 6, Disney Channel Holiday, Radio Disney Jams Vol. 9, and Byou. His duet with singer Belinda, "Dance with Me," appeared on the platinum Cheetah Girls 2 soundtrack and received airplay on the Disney Channel and Radio Disney. He also wrote and performed music for the Disney Channel Original Movie Jump In!, starring Corbin Bleu and Keke Palmer, and appeared in the Hallmark Channel film Claire opposite Valerie Bertinelli. In Another Cinderella Story, he starred opposite Selena Gomez and Jane Lynch as pop star Joey Parker, writing and performing four songs for the film, including "New Classic."

On Broadway, Seeley performed between 2005 and 2011, with credits that include Jersey Boys and The Little Mermaid. In the summer of 2009, he played Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid on Broadway. He later portrayed Bob Gaudio in the US tour of Jersey Boys in 2014.

Seeley released his debut studio album, ~DS~, in 2006, followed by The Resolution on April 5, 2011, which he supported with a national tour of original music. A third studio album, Downtime, followed in 2018. His song "It's Always Been You" served as the theme for the 2011 Hallmark Channel film Crown for Christmas. He contributed to the Shake It Up franchise with multiple recordings, including the duet "Dance for Life" with Adam Hicks, which appeared in the episode "Vatalihoosit It Up" and on the soundtrack Shake It Up: Break It Down, and "I Do," featured on the Walmart-exclusive edition of Shake It Up: I Love Dance and in a season three episode of the series.

In 2013, Seeley appeared in Lovestruck: The Musical on ABC Family, playing Young Ryan opposite Chelsea Kane, Jane Seymour, Sara Paxton, Tom Wopat, and Alexander DiPersia. He performed a rendition of Usher's "DJ's Got Us Fallin' in Love" in the film and co-wrote and performed "Here & Now," the theme song for ABC Family's spring promotional campaign, which was also included on a dance-pop EP he released in April 2013. In 2022, he recorded "Fire" for the doll-based web series Rainbow High.

Seeley has participated in benefit concerts organized by Hold On Til Dawn, a nonprofit supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. On September 23, 2023, he performed at the organization's second benefit concert at Arts at the Armory in Somerville, Massachusetts, alongside Alexz Johnson, Grace Kinstler, Jared Moore, and local artist Johnny. He returned for the third benefit concert on January 26, 2025, at The Abbey in Orlando, Florida, an event that also featured the reunion of pop duo MKTO after more than five years.

Seeley holds U.S. citizenship, which he received in 2019, the same year his daughter was born. He is married to actress and comedian Amy Paffrath.
