Drew Powell

Drew Powell is an American actor born on January 19, 1976, in Noblesville, Indiana. He grew up in Lebanon, Indiana, where he attended and graduated from Lebanon Senior High School. Powell went on to earn a degree from DePauw University in 1998, after which he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a professional acting career.

Powell's first television credit came on Fox's Malcolm in the Middle, where he played a cadet named Drew across thirteen episodes. He subsequently took on the role of Hoss Cartwright in Ponderosa, a prequel to the classic series Bonanza that debuted on PAX in 2001. Beyond these recurring roles, Powell accumulated guest appearances on a wide range of television programs, including Psych, House, Leverage, ER, Cold Case, and Without a Trace. His most prominent television work came on Fox's Gotham, where he served as a series regular portraying Butch Gilzean, also known as Cyrus Gold and Solomon Grundy, the chief enforcer for the character Fish Mooney, played by Jada Pinkett Smith.

In film, Powell appeared as Bic in the 2011 remake of Straw Dogs, directed by Rod Lurie and starring James Marsden, Kate Bosworth, and Alexander Skarsgård. The film was released on September 16, 2011, and was itself a remake of the 1971 film of the same name.

Powell made his Broadway debut in 2010 as part of The Pee-wee Herman Show. During the production of Ponderosa, which was filmed in Australia, Powell met his wife Veronica, who worked on the show as a makeup artist. The couple have one son, born in 2011, and reside in Los Angeles.
