About

Doug Katsaros is an American keyboardist, arranger, composer, and conductor whose career spans Broadway, television, film, and recording. He made his Broadway debut in 1977 and has since accumulated credits that include Hair and Jackie Mason's Laughing Room Only.

His recording career began in 1978 when he contributed to Paul Stanley's debut solo album. Through the 1980s and into subsequent decades, Katsaros worked on albums by artists including Richie Havens, Michael Bolton, Arc Angel, Bon Jovi, Cher, Rod Stewart, Gloria Estefan, Judy Collins, Sinéad O'Connor, Todd Rundgren, Peter, Paul and Mary, B.B. King, Diane Schuur, Liza Minnelli, Peter Frampton, Shania Twain, Elton John, Alejandro Fernández, Christina Aguilera, Marlo Thomas, Sarah Jessica Parker, Robin Beck, Tim Rice, Russ Irwin, Geoff Tate, and Aerosmith, among others. He also performed alongside Richie Kotzen, Billy Sheehan, Dee Snider, Glenn Hughes, Devin Townsend, Bob Kulick, and others on the 2011 collaborative album SIN-Atra. His band Balance, featuring Bob Kulick and Chuck Burgi, released In for the Count in 1982 and Equilibrium in 2009.

Katsaros contributed music to the stage musicals Diamonds and A... My Name Is Alice. For television, he composed the opening themes for The Tick and Bucky O'Hare and the Toad Wars, and his jingle for Mennen appeared in the company's television commercials. He also composed music for the film Who Do I Gotta Kill?, which starred Sandra Bullock.

His work has been recognized with several award nominations and wins. In 1984 he received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Music Composition in Children's Programming for ABC Afterschool Specials. His orchestrations for the Broadway production Altar Boyz earned him a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Orchestrations in 2005. In 2012 he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song for The 85th Anniversary of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
