About

Dorothy Compton (December 15, 1904 – October 17, 1997) was an American performer whose career spanned Broadway, film voice work, and vocal ensemble performance. Born in 1904, she died on October 17, 1997, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 92.

Compton's connection to Walt Disney, whom she knew as an early friend, led to her first acting credit: the voice of Fifer Pig in the 1933 animated short The Three Little Pigs. She reprised the role across three subsequent installments of the series — The Big Bad Wolf (1934), The Three Little Wolves (1936), and The Practical Pig (1939). She also made minor appearances in the films It's Great to Be Alive (1933) and I Married an Angel (1942).

As a vocalist, Compton was a member of the trio the Rhythmettes, alongside Beatrice Hagen and Mary Moder. Following her time with that group, she joined Ted Fiorito's Debutantes.

Her Broadway career ran from 1937 to 1938 and included three productions: the musical Between the Devil, the musical You Never Know, and Leave It to Me!. Compton was married to Robert Ball Morton.
