About
Donald Kirke (May 17, 1901 – May 18, 1971) was an American actor whose career spanned stage, film, and television.
Before establishing himself on Broadway, Kirke built his early professional foundation in multiple areas of the entertainment industry. He had worked for the Christie Film Company prior to the early 1920s, and on December 18, 1922, he signed a contract with that organization. During the early 1920s he performed in stock theater, appearing with the Gene Lewis-Olga Worth and Lewis-Worth companies. In August 1923 he moved into vaudeville, and he later departed the Keith's State Stock Company to join the cast of the drama The Song of India, which was opening in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Kirke's Broadway career ran from 1928 to 1931 and encompassed five productions. His first Broadway credit was Gang War in 1928, followed by Remote Control in 1929.
