Donald Briggs was born on January 28, 1911, in Chicago, Illinois, and went on to become an American actor whose career spanned stage, film, radio, and television across several decades. He died on February 3, 1986, in Woodland Hills, California, at the age of 75.
Briggs received his early education in Chicago, graduating from Senn High School. He began his professional career in broadcasting, working at KYW radio in 1928. His radio work extended well beyond that early start, and he became a prominent voice in the medium, taking on the title roles in The First Nighter Program, The Sheriff, Perry Mason, and The Adventures of Frank Merriwell.
His screen career was equally prolific. Between the 1930s and the 1970s, Briggs appeared in more than 75 films and television productions, establishing a long and varied presence in American entertainment.
On Broadway, Briggs was active from 1951 to 1961, appearing in a range of productions across different genres. His stage credits included Never Say Die, the play Julia, Jake and Uncle Joe, the comedy The Desk Set, and the drama The Dark at the Top of the Stairs.
In his personal life, Briggs was married to actress Audrey Christie.
