Dimitra Arliss

Dimitra Arliss (October 23, 1932 – January 26, 2012) was an American actress of Greek descent, born in Lorain, Ohio. She attended Miami University before launching her professional acting career at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago.

Arliss made her mark on Broadway across a span of productions from 1969 to 1985. Her first notable Broadway appearance came in Arthur L. Kopit's Indians (1970), in which she portrayed the character Teskanjavila. She subsequently took on the role of Eurydice in Antigone (1971) and, more than a decade later, played Catherine Petkoff in the 1985 production of Arms and the Man.

Her screen work encompassed both film and television. Among her film roles, she appeared as Loretta Salino, a contract killer, in The Sting (1973), alongside appearances in Xanadu, Firefox, and Bless the Child. On television, she had roles in Bella Mia and Rich Man, Poor Man, as well as episodes of Dallas and Quincy, M.E. She also contributed voice work to Spider-Man: The Animated Series, voicing Anastasia Hardy in two episodes: "The Sins Of The Fathers, Chapter II: Make A Wish" (1995) and "The Sins Of The Fathers, Chapter IV: Enter The Green Goblin" (1996).

Arliss died on January 26, 2012, at the Motion Picture & Television Fund Hospital in Woodland Hills, California, from complications of a stroke, at the age of 79. She was buried at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills Cemetery in Los Angeles.
