About
Desmond Jeans (14 November 1903 – December 1974) was a British actor whose career spanned both stage and screen. He appeared on Broadway in 1929 in Bitter Sweet, marking his presence in the American theatrical world during that period.
Jeans came from a family with deep roots in the acting profession. His sisters, Isabel and Ursula Jeans, were both established actresses. His personal and professional worlds intersected further through his marriage to Margaret Livesey, whose brother, the actor Roger Livesey, later wed Ursula Jeans.
In addition to his stage work, Jeans built a film career primarily in British cinema during the 1930s. His screen credits from that decade include The Blue Danube (1932), Diamond Cut Diamond (1932), The Girl from Maxim's (1933), Colonel Blood (1934), and His Majesty and Company (1935). He returned to film work in 1951 with The Six Men.
