About
Deedee Magno Hall, born April 2, 1975, is an American actress and singer who grew up in San Diego, California, and Orlando, Florida. She is recognized for her membership in the pop group The Party, her Broadway career spanning 1991 to 2015, and her role as the voice of Pearl in the Steven Universe franchise.
Hall began her professional career as a child performer on the Disney Channel series The All New Mickey Mouse Club, which she joined in 1989 and appeared on through 1991, with occasional appearances in 1992. Her early screen work also included a credited role among the students in the 1993 film Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, a voice role as Princess Dinner Guest in an episode of Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child, and an appearance on the Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular soundtrack as Jasmine.
Her Broadway career brought her to Miss Saigon, where she originated the role of Kim, a role she subsequently reprised on the national tour. Hall also appeared on Broadway in Wicked and If/Then. Her work with Wicked extended well beyond Broadway: she portrayed Nessarose on the first national tour from December 12, 2006, through November 16, 2008, then reprised the role in the San Francisco sit-down production at the Orpheum Theatre, where performances began January 27, 2009, opened officially on February 6, 2009, and ran through the production's closing on September 5, 2010. In October 2015, she joined the US tour of If/Then in the ensemble, listed as "Cathy and others," and served as understudy for the roles of Elizabeth and Kate. Outside of Broadway, Hall starred as Diana Goodman in East West Players' production of Next to Normal, performing from May 12 to June 18, 2017.
Hall's voice acting career expanded her profile considerably when she began voicing Pearl on the Cartoon Network series Steven Universe in 2013, continuing through the show's run until 2019. She carried the role into the follow-up series Steven Universe Future from 2019 to 2020, and provided both spoken and singing voice work for Pearl in Steven Universe: The Movie, as well as in multiple video games including Steven Universe: Attack the Light, Steven Universe: Save the Light, Steven Universe: The Phantom Fable, and Steven Universe: Unleash the Light, and in various animated shorts. She also voiced additional Pearls and miscellaneous characters across both series. Concurrent with her Steven Universe work, Hall voiced Snuggs in the animated series Doc McStuffins from 2016 to 2017, and three characters — Dorris, Dominel, and Pyllis — in the video game Epic Seven.
In 2021, Hall voiced the characters Emissary, Vina, and Newscaster in Trese, and two characters, Penelope and Elder Shrubdub, in Dogs in Space. That same year she voiced Rory in Craig of the Creek, Snowball and Fairy 2 in We Baby Bears, Lola Belen in an episode of Firebuds, and Queenie Santos in the video game We Are OFK. In 2023, she voiced Miss Deer Teacher in the Disney animated series Kiff.
Hall is married to Cliffton Hall, who appeared opposite her in both the Miss Saigon and Wicked national tours, played Fiyero in the San Francisco production of Wicked, and portrayed Dan Goodman alongside her in East West Players' Next to Normal. The two also performed together in a Guam production of Mamma Mia!, where she played Donna Sheridan and he played Sam Carmichael. They have two sons, Kaeden and Brycen.
