David Bologna

David Bologna is an American actor, dancer, and singer born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Rick Bologna and Holly Bologna. He began performing at the age of seven and went on to earn a Tony Award nomination at fourteen, making him one of the youngest nominees in the award's history.

Bologna's early theatrical work took place in New Orleans, where he appeared in local productions including Bye Bye Birdie at Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre, Seussical the Musical with Brandt Blocker Presents at Six Flags New Orleans, and Peter Pan. When Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans and flooded his family's home, the Bolognas relocated to Austin, Texas. There, he continued performing through the Zachary Scott Theatre and the youth theatre kidsActing Studio, taking on roles in productions such as Beauty and the Beast, Grease, and Cabaret. Prior to his Broadway career, Bologna also won the Big Easy Entertainment Award for his performances in Oliver! and The Music Man.

Beyond theatre, Bologna distinguished himself as a competitive Irish dancer, winning the North American Irish Dancing Championships twice and placing fifth at the World Irish Dance Championships.

Billy Elliot the Musical opened on Broadway on November 13, 2008, with Bologna alternating in the role of Michael — Billy's flamboyant best friend — alongside Frank Dolce. While the three actors portraying Billy shared a Tony nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical, Bologna received his own individual nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical, recognized as the performer who had debuted the role in the production's first official performance. The nomination came from the 2009 Tony Awards. His initial run in the show concluded on September 27, 2009, though he returned to the role of Michael on June 16, 2010, for a limited engagement that ran through August 8, 2010.
