About
Darilyn Castillo is a Dominican American actress, singer, songwriter, recording artist, poet, and podcast host whose Broadway career spanned from 2002 to 2019. Of Dominican descent, Castillo grew up in Suffern, New York, where she attended Suffern High School and earned the Rising Star Award. She later pursued formal training at The City College of New York, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater.
Castillo's professional stage career began during her time at City College with an Off-Broadway run of It Ain't Nothin But the Blues at New Haarlem Arts, where she played the roles of Carter and Eloise. She subsequently appeared in the Off-Broadway production of Fancy Nancy at Vital Theatre as Bree. Additional Off-Broadway and regional credits include the role of Cinderella at Nicu's Spoon Theatre Company, Mayme in Intimate Apparel, Celeste in the first Off-Broadway revival of Marie Christine, and Deena and Michelle in an Off-Broadway production of Dreamgirls. Her performance in A Sunday Morning in the South drew reviews from The New York Times, New York Post, and Backstage. Regional work includes Lorraine in All Shook Up at Millbrook Playhouse, Sarah Understudy and Ensemble in Ragtime at Westchester Broadway Theatre, Angel in the Cirque Dreams Holidaze National Tour, and Dynamite in Hairspray at Summer Theatre of New Canaan.
On Broadway, Castillo appeared in The Lion King and starred in Hamilton. Within Hamilton, she first joined the And Peggy Company before moving to the Philip Company, where she performed as Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds. She also performed with the Puerto Rico Cast of Hamilton.
In 2022, Castillo originated the role of Julia in the world premiere of Dream Hou$e, a play by Eliana Pipes. As a recording artist, she released an EP titled Constellation and a music video for the song Still Calling. In 2021, she released her first Spanish-language single, Ella Y No Conmigo, and produced its accompanying music video. Castillo is also the host of the Morenita podcast, a platform dedicated to exploring the Latinx experience, available on all major podcast streaming platforms.
