About

Danielle Marie Campbell, born January 30, 1995, in Hinsdale, Illinois, is an American actress whose career spans television, film, and Broadway. She was discovered at age ten in a Chicago hair salon, launching a professional path that would take her from guest appearances to leading roles across multiple platforms.

Campbell's earliest screen work included five guest episodes of Prison Break and a nationwide commercial for Build-A-Bear Workshop. Her film debut came with the 2008 movie The Poker House, in which she played the character Darla. A guest appearance on the Disney Channel series Zeke and Luther in 2010 preceded her starring role alongside Sterling Knight in the Disney Channel Original Movie Starstruck, also that year. The success of Starstruck led to a development deal with Disney. She followed that with the 2011 Disney film Prom, co-starring Nicholas Braun, Nolan Sotillo, and Aimee Teegarden, released on April 29, 2011.

In 2013, Campbell was cast in the CW drama series The Originals as Davina Claire, a powerful sixteen-year-old witch, a role that became one of her most recognized. That same year, producers announced she would star in the 2015 film 16 South alongside Luke Benward. In April 2015, she filmed Race to Redemption opposite Aiden Flowers and Luke Perry, which was released in 2016. Additional credits from that period include the 2016 television series SINs, in which she played Ellie Reed, and the 2017 Fine Brothers production F the Prom, where she appeared as Maddy.

Campbell appeared in a recurring role during the second season of the Freeform series Famous in Love in 2018, the same year she was cast in a starring role in the CBS All Access psychological thriller series Tell Me a Story, playing both Kayla Powell and Olivia Moon. In March 2018, she also appeared in Jesse McCartney's music video for "Better With You."

In 2021, Campbell made her Broadway debut in Trouble in Mind, the play by Alice Childress. In 2025, she starred in the Netflix series The Waterfront.

Campbell lives in Los Angeles, California. Her parents are Georganne and John Campbell, and she has a younger brother. She began dating former The Originals co-star Colin Woodell in February 2018, and the two became engaged in August 2023. They married on September 13, 2025.
