Daniel Jarrett was an American actor and screenwriter whose career spanned stage, screen, and the written word across several decades. Born on November 6, in either 1886 or 1894, he died on March 13, 1938. He was the brother of screenwriter and actor Arthur L. Jarrett.
Jarrett's stage career placed him on Broadway between 1888 and 1932, during which he appeared in a range of productions. His Broadway credits included Riddle Me This, Who Did It?, Rolling Stones, The Co-respondent, and The Importance of Coming and Going, among others.
Alongside his theatrical work, Jarrett built a parallel career in film as both a performer and a writer. His acting work in motion pictures began in the silent era, with appearances in The Scales of Justice in 1914, Kennedy Square in 1916, Miss Robinson Crusoe and The Slacker in 1917, and Sunshine Harbor in 1922, in which he played the role of Dugan. He also appeared in Hawaiian Buckaroo in 1938.
Jarrett's contributions to film extended beyond performance into screenwriting. He wrote the story and screenplay for The Cowboy Millionaire in 1935 and went on to write screenplays for Daniel Boone and Roll Along, Cowboy, both in 1936 and 1937 respectively, as well as Windjammer in 1937. His story work also contributed to Tomahawk, released in 1951, more than a decade after his death in 1938.
