About
Corey Michael Cott, born March 30, 1990, in Columbus, Mississippi, is an American actor and singer whose Broadway career spans from 2012 to 2024. The oldest of three children born to Rick Cott, an investment manager and former Air Force fighter pilot, and Lori Cott, he grew up in Spring Arbor, Michigan, and Chagrin Falls, Ohio, where he attended Chagrin Falls High School. He is the older brother of actor Casey Cott. After high school, Cott trained at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he began his professional acting career by booking engagements with Pittsburgh CLO, the city's professional theater company. His work there included productions of Miss Saigon, Jekyll and Hyde, and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Following his graduation from Carnegie Mellon, Cott relocated to New York City and quickly secured a place in the Broadway musical Newsies as the alternate for the role of Jack Kelly, a part previously held by Jeremy Jordan. He assumed the role permanently on September 5, 2012. Cott had grown up alongside fellow Newsies cast member Ben Fankhauser, having performed with him in local youth theater productions years earlier.
His next major Broadway credit came with Gigi, followed by Bandstand, in which he originated the role of World War II veteran Donny Novitski. Bandstand opened on Broadway on April 26, 2017, though Cott had first performed the role at the Paper Mill Playhouse in October 2015 during the musical's premiere production. In 2024, he returned to Broadway starring in The Heart of Rock and Roll, an original jukebox musical comedy built around the music of Huey Lewis and the News.
Between his Broadway engagements, Cott expanded into television. He guest starred in a 2016 episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and was announced in February 2019 as part of the cast of the Fox drama Filthy Rich, playing Eric Monreaux, a series that premiered on September 21, 2020. Beginning in October 2025, Cott joined Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as a series regular, portraying Detective Jake Griffin.
Cott married Meghan Woollard in January 2013, having met her while both were singing in church in Pittsburgh. The couple have three sons: Elliott Michael, born May 1, 2017; Nolan, born in August 2019; and Asher, born October 31, 2021.
