Connie Emerald, born Constance Gladys O'Shea on 20 August 1892 in Peckham, London, England, was a British stage actress of Irish descent. She performed under the professional name Connie Emerald throughout her career and died on 26 December 1959.
Emerald's stage career brought her to Broadway in 1926, where she appeared in the musical Naughty Riquette. Beyond her theatre work, she accumulated screen credits in five films, among them the 1931 production A Safe Affair.
Her family connections extended prominently into the entertainment world. Emerald was married to entertainer and film star Stanley Lupino, and the couple had a daughter, Ida Lupino, who went on to become a Hollywood star. When Ida established her own film production company in the 1950s, she named it Emerald Productions in honor of her mother. Emerald's sister, Nell Emerald, was also active in the industry as an actress and film producer.
