About

Coleen Sexton is an American stage actress originally from Westfield, New Jersey, who has performed on Broadway between 1997 and 2018, with credits including Jekyll & Hyde, Legally Blonde, and Dear Evan Hansen. A graduate of Westfield High School, she pursued a career in acting following her graduation. Prior to her Broadway debut, Sexton performed as a singer with a Germany-based band called 5NY.

Sexton made her Broadway debut in Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse's Jekyll & Hyde, joining the production as an understudy for the role of Lucy Harris in 1999 before assuming the role from Luba Mason in January 2000. She became the final actress to portray Lucy Harris in the Broadway run and the only actress in the role to have performed alongside every actor who played Jekyll and Hyde, with the exception of the original, Robert Cuccioli. During her tenure, she shared the stage with Jack Wagner from January through June 2000, Sebastian Bach from June through October 2000, and David Hasselhoff from October 2000 through the show's close in January 2001. Joseph Mahowald served as the alternate until October 2000, when Rob Evan returned to the production for its final months. In December 2000, Hasselhoff funded a live filming of the show, capturing Sexton alongside Andrea Rivette as Emma Carew. The recording aired on HBO multiple times in early 2001, was released on DVD in September 2001, and was re-released in November 2006.

Following Jekyll & Hyde, Sexton toured with the Broadway National touring company of Chicago from 2004 to 2005. In 2007, she served as standby for Elphaba on the first North American tour of Wicked, joining the production on January 3 and remaining through October 28, 2007. Her first performance in the role took place in Providence on January 17, when she replaced lead star Victoria Matlock mid-show. Sexton also portrayed Brooke Wyndham in the national tour of Legally Blonde and played the Lady of the Lake in a production of Spamalot at the Gateway Playhouse, which ran through July 30, 2011.

In 2012, Sexton returned to the New York stage in the Off-Broadway musical Forever Dusty, centered on British singer Dusty Springfield. She took on the dual roles of Becky Brixton, Springfield's manager, and Gini, a drug and alcohol counselor, while also understudying the title role. She performed the role of Dusty Springfield for the first time on February 4, 2013.

In 2018, Sexton joined the touring company of Dear Evan Hansen as a standby for the role of Heidi Hansen and understudy for Cynthia Murphy, appearing alongside fellow Jekyll & Hyde alumna Christiane Noll. By 2022, she had become the principal actor for the role of Heidi Hansen in the production.
