About

Clea Lewis is an American actress born on July 19, 1965, in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Her father was a former vaudeville performer and lawyer, and her mother was a writer. Lewis graduated from Brown University in 1987. She is married to playwright and children's book author Peter Ackerman, with whom she has two sons: Stanley, born in 2002, and Alvin, born in 2005.

Lewis is perhaps most widely recognized for her television work, particularly her recurring role as Audrey Penney, the irritating friend of Ellen Morgan, on the sitcom Ellen. Her television credits extend across several decades and include a series regular role on Flying Blind, an appearance in the pilot episode of Friends in which she played Frannie, and a guest appearance on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She later joined the cast of Andy Barker, P.I. as Jenny Barker, wife of the title character played by Andy Richter, and went on to portray Margaret Redding on Royal Pains and Deirdre Kemp on The Americans.

Her film work includes roles in The Rich Man's Wife, Diabolique, Scotch & Milk, and Perfect Stranger, in which she played Gina, a chatty ad agency worker. In 2000, she provided the voice of Amy Lawrence in Tom Sawyer. Lewis has also been active in voice-over work, voicing Nicky Little in the Disney Saturday morning cartoon Pepper Ann and contributing to the animated film Ice Age: The Meltdown. She additionally recorded the audiobook editions of volumes four through ten of The Princess Diaries book series.

On stage, Lewis made her Broadway appearance in 2005 in Absurd Person Singular.
