Claudie Blakley

Claudie Blakley is an English actress born on 4 January 1974 who trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama. She made her Broadway appearance in 2009 and had previously participated in The 24 Hour Plays in 2004.

Blakley's stage career produced early recognition when she won the Ian Charleson Award in 1998 for her performance in The Seagull at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds. She appeared in the premiere of the play Chimerica in 2013.

Her screen work spans both film and television. She portrayed Mabel Nesbitt in Robert Altman's Gosford Park and Charlotte Lucas in Joe Wright's 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. On British television, she is widely recognized for playing Emma Timmins in the BBC drama series Lark Rise to Candleford. In 2007, she appeared as Martha in the BBC serial Cranford. In 2010, she took on the role of Cynthia Lennon in the BBC production Lennon Naked, a drama covering the years 1964 to 1971 in the life of John Lennon.

Blakley comes from a family with deep roots in British entertainment. Her father was Alan Blakley, a member of the 1960s pop band the Tremeloes. Her mother, Lin Blakley, is an actress who portrayed Pam Coker on EastEnders from 2014 to 2016.
