Chuck Strand is an American theater composer and lyricist originally from New Rochelle, New York. Working across multiple disciplines in the theater, Strand has contributed to productions as a composer, lyricist, arranger, and musical director.
Strand's most prominent Broadway credit is The Lieutenant, a rock opera for which he collaborated with Gene Curty and Nitra Scharfman on the music, book, and lyrics. In addition to his compositional contributions, Strand served as the show's arranger and musical director. The production earned him two Tony Award nominations in 1975, one for Best Book of a Musical and one for Best Original Score. The Lieutenant also received Drama Desk Award recognition.
Beyond Broadway, Strand wrote the music and lyrics for A Naughty Knight, an Off-Off-Broadway production staged at The Duke Theatre on 42nd Street in New York. The show was performed by the Jewish Repertory Theatre in 2001.
