Christy Baron

Christy Baron is an American actress and jazz and pop singer, born in Munhall, Pennsylvania. She studied in the drama department at Carnegie Mellon University, where she also began performing at jazz clubs throughout the Pittsburgh area.

Baron's Broadway career spans 1987 to 1988, during which she appeared in Les Misérables in the role of Fantine. Her stage work extends beyond Broadway to include productions at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. She also appeared on screen in the 2000 feature film Pants on Fire.

As a jazz and pop performer, Baron has worked alongside artists including David Sanborn, Natalie Cole, Carly Simon, and Dr. John, and has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. In 1997, her engagement with her band at Birdland jazz club in New York drew a standing-room-only audience. She also spent a year as a featured performer in the musical revue Mad Hattan at the New York New York Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Baron has released three albums: I Thought About You in 1997, Steppin' in 2000, and Take This Journey in 2002. Reviewing Take This Journey for JazzTimes, critic Christopher Loudon described her singing on the record as possessing an unfiltered honesty.
