About
Christopher Randolph is an American actor born in 1959 in Boston, Massachusetts. He holds an MFA from the graduate acting program at the University of California, San Diego, and works across stage, screen, and voice performance. In addition to acting, he writes, directs, and teaches acting.
Randolph made his Broadway appearance in 2004 in King Lear, a production that starred Christopher Plummer. His stage work extends beyond Broadway to numerous Off-Broadway and regional productions throughout the country.
He is widely recognized in the video game world for voicing Hal "Otacon" Emmerich and Dr. "Huey" Emmerich in the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Before being cast as Otacon, he auditioned for several roles in the series, including the part of Solid Snake. His involvement in the franchise dates to 1998, and he has appeared in all main Metal Gear Solid series games with one exception, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Following David Hayter's recasting from the role of Snake in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Randolph became the longest-serving English voice actor in the franchise.
His television work includes guest appearances on Will & Grace, Doogie Howser M.D., Mad About You, American Masters, and NewsRadio. He has also appeared on the soap operas Days of Our Lives, As the World Turns, and Guiding Light, where he recurs as ER Doctor Tompkins. On the short film side, he has leading roles in Convention, directed by Ryan Fleck, and Pumpkin Hell, directed by Max Finneran.
Randolph is the brother of actress Tod Randolph and singer-songwriter Nick Randolph of the group Stonehoney.
