Chris Sullivan

Chris Sullivan is an American actor and musician born on July 19, 1980. He has maintained a Broadway career spanning from 1996 to 2023, with stage credits including The Thanksgiving Play, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Lombardi, Ltd., and Chicago. On television, he is best known for his roles as Tom Cleary on the Cinemax drama The Knick and as Toby Damon on the NBC drama This Is Us, the latter earning him two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Sullivan's early stage work was rooted in Chicago, where he trained in improv at the iO Theater. His Chicago-area credits include Defending the Caveman at the Lakeshore Theater and The Ballad of Emmett Till at the Goodman Theatre. He subsequently joined the original Broadway cast of Lombardi, and in 2011 became part of the long-running Broadway revival of Chicago.

His screen career has spanned film, television, and voice work. He appeared in the 2008 Sundance Film Festival-nominated film North Starr, playing the character Sprit, and later took roles in The Normal Heart and The Drop (2014), the latter alongside his Knick co-star Jeremy Bobb. In addition to his series regular work, Sullivan appeared in single episodes of A Gifted Man (2012), Elementary, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and The Americans (2013). He played Taserface in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Benny Hammond in Stranger Things. Sullivan also provided the voice of the camel in GEICO's widely recognized "Hump Day" advertisement. In March 2022, he was set to lead the ABC comedy pilot The Son In Law.

Sullivan married producer Rachel Reichard in 2010. The couple's son was born in 2020 and their daughter in 2022.
