Chris Sullivan

Chris Sullivan is an American actor and musician born on July 19, 1980. He is best known for his television work, including a recurring role on the Cinemax drama The Knick and a six-year starring role on the NBC drama This Is Us, the latter of which earned him two Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

Sullivan's early stage career was rooted in Chicago, where he trained in improv at the iO Theater. His Chicago credits include Defending the Caveman at the Lakeshore Theater and The Ballad of Emmett Till at the Goodman Theatre. He subsequently made his Broadway debut in the original cast of Lombardi, and in 2011 joined the long-running Broadway revival of Chicago. Between 2019 and 2021, Sullivan appeared on Broadway in Freestyle Love Supreme.

On television, Sullivan first drew wider attention through his portrayal of Tom Cleary on The Knick. From 2016 to 2022, he starred as Toby Damon on This Is Us, a performance that brought him two nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. His additional television credits include single-episode appearances on A Gifted Man in 2012, Elementary, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and The Americans in 2013. In March 2022, Sullivan was set to lead the ABC comedy pilot The Son In Law.

Sullivan's film work includes a role as Sprit in North Starr, which received a Sundance Film Festival nomination in 2008, as well as appearances in The Normal Heart and The Drop in 2014, the latter alongside his Knick co-star Jeremy Bobb. He played Taserface in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Benny Hammond in Stranger Things. He also provided the voice of the camel in the GEICO "Hump Day" advertising campaign.

Sullivan married producer Rachel Reichard in 2010. The couple's son was born in 2020 and their daughter in 2022.
