Chris McGarry is an American actor born on August 19, 1966, in Roselle, New Jersey. A member of both The Actors Studio and LAByrinth Theater Company, McGarry has built a career spanning television, film, and stage work in New York City and Chicago.
McGarry's Broadway career extended from 2003 to 2024. He made his Broadway debut in Salome alongside Al Pacino, and later starred opposite Cherry Jones in the National Broadway Tour of John Patrick Shanley's Doubt. Beyond Broadway, McGarry starred opposite Tom Hardy in Brett C. Leonard's The Long Red Road at The Goodman Theater in Chicago, a production directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman.
On television, McGarry is recognized for his recurring presence on the NBC series Law & Order, where he appeared from 2001 to 2005. His additional television credits include Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Sopranos, The Unit, Boston Legal, Mad Men, Big Love, and 24. In 2012, he appeared in four episodes of the series Awake as Dr. Banks. In 2023, McGarry took on the lead role in The Murdoch Murders, directed by Jason Winn.
